Education is fundamental to our great way of life. As a Trustee I will bring my skills, knowledge and experience in public agency management to serve our students and community.

I believe the primary mission of the Board is to support our teachers in delivering quality academics. This starts with maintaining class size reduction at all grade levels and offering alternative education paths to embrace all learners such as the continuation high schools. Experience as a parent with our schools is an important perspective. I have been married for 32-years and both our children attended Livermore Schools. Our son went to East Avenue and LHS before graduating from UC Berkeley. Our daughter is a student-athlete in the 11th grade at LHS and attended East Avenue and Almond Avenue.

I’m running for the school board because our children can only thrive when schools have strong, effective leadership in these challenging times. As a member of the District’s Measure D Parcel Tax Oversight Committee, I am well aware of the fiscal challenges our district faces.

My success in designing and managing a unique two-city agency before retiring as Chief of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department was founded on values that will enable me to be an effective leader and advocate for our schools. As a Trustee I will listen to all viewpoints carefully with respect and compassion. I will work with both school site members and outside agencies to move issues forward.

I will be inclusive - our schools must serve the needs of all students. In addition to the high quality preparation offered to college bound students, we need stronger technical (vocational) education to prepare students for post high school training and occupations. I will be fiscally responsible - budgets have to be balanced to revenues available. I will strive for long range fiscal planning, especially for the District’s unmet facility repair needs. District programs must have accountability – learning goals and fiscal plans need measures to chart forward progress.

My Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are in Public Administration. I currently serve the community as a member of Livermore Rotary and as a Board member of the Livermore Valley Education Foundation (LVEF).  With your support, I look forward to making greater contributions to our school system.  I respectfully request your vote for School Board.
